What's so specific about ... Sculptors with Chemical Sensitivity?

"Sculptors work with very different materials, like plastic, foams, wood, metals, foils, garments, papers, fibers, stones. The dangers for sculptors with Chemical Sensitivity are as manifold as these materials. They range from inhaling stone dust or raisins to plastic fumes with all their toxic ingredients; they include fumes from glues, solder, solvents and other chemical components, as well as rusty metal components and other obstacles. Few are the materials left that can be used by sculptors with Chemical Sensitivity!

Apart from that, building sculptures of some size involves bodily strength, which many artists with Chemical Sensitivities lost during their time of suffering. When you have to struggle for your daily survival, in homes and working places contaminated with molds and pesticides, solvents, household chemicals and other toxic material, building sculptures is something like the work of a giant. It takes ages and all your energy. It might even kill you." (Moon McNeill, network president, speaking for the sculptors with Chemical Sensitivity)
